Is Your Partner Pregnant ? This Could Cause Low Testosterone
The Australian Woman’s Weekly has told us today about a new study recently published in the American Journal Of Human Biology…
The study has discovered that just as women experience wild hormonal changes during pregnancy, their male partners can also experience similar changes.
The Studies Lead researcher – Robin Edelstein told us
“There are hormonal Changes going on with men as well, and they occur earlier than other studies have suggested”…
He Continued …
“What we have found is that there is a gradual decline in mens testosterone production over the course of their partners pregnancy”
The Study followed 29 couples each pregnant with their first child… during the course of the pregnancies the couple were both checked four times for their levels of four hormones :
- Salivary Testosterone
In the women, all 4 hormones gradually increased during the pregnancy, while in men, the study revealed that both estradiol and testosterone actually reduced while the other 2 hormones remained at constant levels.
Testosterone in women reduces straight after pregnancy
Researchers have not yet identified the reason for the reduction in testosterone in men, but are looking to explore it further with more studies planned..
The tested men did not suffer excessively reduced testosterone, but sufficient enough to possibly help them become more relaxed and caring – ready for fatherhood and their position as a care giver..
